Workmen’s Compensation

The Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923 was made to offer compensation to the workers who have encountered injuries due to an accident during their employment.

The employers are obligated to offer compensation to their workers who encountered injuries that have led to demise or disablement during employment.

The Act extends to whole of India. It is also applicable to the workman recruited by companies/establishments registered in India and sent for work abroad.

Compensation is payable in case of temporary/permanent disablement or death as a result of an employment injury.

Settlement of Claims under the Act :

The claims for compensation broadly fall in four categories, namely
